Native Hunters spent their lives learning about the animals they hunted.  When they hunted, they usually harvested only the animals that were needed by the people of their villages.  These Native People were grateful to the animals and their gifts of food, clothing, footwear and bedding that they provided.  “A Good Day” portrays a good day’s harvest.  
 
Some additional key notes about Jack Paluh's Native American painting include the reflection of a bear in the water.  The bear was considered a brother to the tribe.  Bears, regarded as masters of the forests, represented a symbol of strength, learned humility, motherhood, teaching, healing and friendship.  Also, there is additional game on the far shore along with another native hunter.
