Jack Paluh has always made it a point to visit and photograph the majestic elk herds in Benezette, PA. To gather this reference for this wildlife art painting, he hiked with his good friend who knew where the greatest concentration of elk were located. As they observed and photographed, this bull never stood still as he continually chased away other challenging bulls.
Viewing the elk in the wild was an unforgettable sight. The bugling of this bull was a challenge to other bulls and a call of dominance to his harem. His bugle began as a bellow, changing to a loud, shrill whistle and ended with a series of grunts. It is an unforgettable sound.
